Being Bold with Bedding
I recently made a huge life upgrade; I sold my bed from college and bought myself a king bed. Of course, a bigger bed means all new bedding. Yay, a fun new creative project! But with so many options, where to start?
Several months ago a friend introduced me to Society6, a website that allows independent artists to upload their artwork for a multitude of products from pillows to phone cases to travel mugs to beach towels and much more. I’m all about supporting local or independent artists, so I began my search for a bedding makeover there. At first, I thought I would go with a safari theme since I own a zebra body pillow with silk pillowcases but my living room is basically a shrine to animal prints already so I decided against that. I had a vision for my new dream space, I wanted it to feel sophisticated, bold, creative and original. As I was browsing the site, I came across a designer who’s artwork I was instantly drawn to – Elisabeth Fredriksson – who combines organic elements with graphic geometric shapes and gold detailing to create beautiful aesthetic designs. It took me a while to decide but I finally chose her artwork soft blue gradient cubes for my new comforter and stormy mountains for a coordinating throw pillow. I also ordered two other throw pillows featuring artwork antique world map by Nature Magick in blue-gold & white-gold, to match my overall color scheme. All-together, the comforter and three throw pillow set me back about $170.
My order came in the mail in about a week. The comforter turned out beautifully, the artwork is crisp & clear with great color saturation and detail. Only thing I wish I could change is the opposite side of the comforters are always white – if it were up to me I would have chosen for it to be blue or black. I was super pleased with two of the throw pillows as well, but one of them didn’t execute properly (white-gold world map) so Society6 refunded it, but let me keep it, which I thought was respectful. All-in-all, my first experience with Society6 was more than positive and I would recommend the site to all. Here’s a $10-off coupon if you’re interested! https://share.society6.com/x/XXR9V8
Note all the other pillows pictured were purchased elsewhere. I got the three gold pillows at Home Goods and owned all others from my previous bedding. You can never have too many pillows! The plush black blanket is Kate Spade. And yes, that is a 3D-printed dragon that I painted gold.
I’m thrilled about my bed makeover. Just in time for the cozy season too, so if you need me from now through March, you’ll know where to find me. HA! Kidding (kind of).
As always, thank you for reading!
XOXO

Love the comforter! It’s very sophisticated indeed! Plus, you’re supporting an artist! 🙂

You actually make it seem so easy together with your presentation however I to find this topic to be actually one thing which I believe I’d never understand. It kind of feels too complicated and very extensive for me. I am having a look ahead to your subsequent put up, I will attempt to get the dangle of it!
