STYLE + FASHION

Bohemian Rhapsody

Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango?

Recently someone asked me “how would you describe your personal style?” and I thought hmm… I’m kind of all over the place. Generally I would say I’m trendy, a little edgy, sometimes glamarous and I love color. I like to try to push the boundaries of what’s socially acceptable when it comes to fashion and I’m not afraid to try new things. But it’s hard to say I fall into one fashion classification – in fact I tend to mix different pieces from various styles to create my very own classification (after all, I am part of the slash generation).

With that being said, lately I’ve been really loving the casual, comfortable boho-chic vibes of lace tops, whimsical patterns, loose pants, pastels, earth tones and the color white. Think Free People catalog. In my previous post I wrote about a recent purchase I made on romwe.com, and another one of the items I loved from my order was this crochet scalloped-hem tank (which is unfortunately sold out now). The intricate crochet pattern and sophisticated silhouette initially caught my eye online and I was pleased to find that it was well-crafted and looked even better in person. It also looks like I spent way more money on it than I actually did (it was $9.60!) I could add a designer label to it, bring it to Coachella next year and sell it for hundreds… ha kidding I won’t do that.

There are lots of different ways to wear this kind of lacey, crochet top. My first recommendation? Purchase a white bandeau or bralette (or if you’re really brave wear nothing underneath). A dark undergarment is distracting and ruins aesthetic of the top. I chose to pair the top with flowy printed pants and white gladiator sandals for a truly bohemian-inspired look. Another way I may try to wear the top is with frayed jean shorts, a long but light cardigan and cowboy-style booties. But that’s an idea for a future post.

Any way the wind blows…….
