Top Fall Picks from TopShop
I recently raided the racks at the TopShop in the Nordstrom Downtown Portland to find the best transition-to-fall pieces. These are my three favorites; continue reading to see how I styled each piece and get some outfit inspiration for the fall season!
This pink pinafore dress was a little out of my comfort zone, but I like to try on things I normally might not buy because I tend to surprise myself. When I put it on I felt like I was in Clueless. I loved it. For this outfit, I threw a dusty rose moto-style jacket over the girly dress – the leather makes the outfit feel slightly more edgy, but the light pink color keeps it feminine. Subtle hits of purple shine through the yarns of the dress, so I matched that back to a pair of purple velvet Sam Edelman sandals. I played around with a simple black belt to help accentuate my waist, but it isn’t a necessary component of the outfit. The pink crystal earrings are from BP in Nordstrom and these funky pink sunglasses are from ILYMix.com. And can you believe this gorgeous red handbag is from TJ Maxx?? While the dress alone gave me Clueless vibes, the entire outfit is giving me more young Jackie Kennedy vibes. I’m even excited to wear this dress over turtlenecks with tights and thigh-high boots as the weather gets progressively cooler.
I love this scarlet wrap dress that I found, which comes in both a mini and midi option (mini on me). For only $70, this is a dress that can work almost year-round, depending on how it’s styled. It provides enough coverage to be work-appropriate, but is also in a striking red color that turns heads if worn out. It’s lightweight, comfortable and flirty. I paired it with chartreuse platforms from Chinese Laundry, my leather leopard purse from The Kooples, a floppy black hair from Francesca’s and hand-painted teardrop earrings from Anthropologie. How bright, beautiful and so-very fall is the combination of the scarlet with the chartreuse pumps?! This whole outfit is ideal for a vacation dinner or a semi-formal fall event.

You’d have to be living under a rock to not notice fall’s biggest trend: animal print. This vibrant fitted zebra sweater is a perfect fall staple if you’re looking to be on-trend this season but want to stand out in a sea of leopard and snake. With pop trims in contrasting orange, this sweater is bold, cozy and great for layering. I’ve thrown it over a sophisticated body con dress (as seen in previous post here) with strappy black heels from Report, large square hoop earrings and the same leopard purse as above. It would look equally as fantastic with fitted jeans, booties and a black leather jacket.

What fall trend are you excited to try this season? Do you have a favorite fall piece you can’t wait to break out once the leaves start changing colors? Personally, I’m not quite ready to say goodbye to summer but it will inevitably happen. At least I’ll be well-dressed as the Portland rainy season begins!
As always, thank you for reading! XOXO
